Update: Bartley Terrace Upgrade

Over the past few months, many residents in West Lakes, West Lakes Shore and Semaphore Park have raised concerns with myself regarding council resurfacing works on Bartley Terrace.

I recently wrote to council to seek an update on the works being conducted on Bartley Terrace and received a response, which I have attached for your information.  However, in order to save you the time of reading the lengthy response I have summarized the key points of the response below.

Resurfacing of Bartley Terrace

The City of Charles Sturt has advised that the final seal of Bartley Terrace has been delayed. This is due to the council being notified by APA Utilities that gas mains needed to be replaced after work had already commenced on resealing Bartley Terrace. This is unacceptable and has resulted in a lowered speed limit and an uneven road surface. I recently passed legislation in Parliament to specifically ensure that such miscommunications such as in this case between Council and a utilities company can no longer occur.

Lighting at the new roundabout at the intersection of Bartley Terrace/Greenfield Crescent

The City of Charles Sturt has advised that lighting will be installed at this roundabout but has been delayed due the lighting contractor. Luminaries will also be upgraded along Bartley Terrace as each stage of the project is completed. Further, I am advised that this roundabout was installed to calm traffic in front of the shopping centre.

Additional roundabout to be constructed at the intersection of Bartley Terrace/Fairford Terrace

The City of Charles Sturt has advised that a roundabout is to be constructed as part of Stage 2 at the intersection of Bartley Terrace/Fairford Terrace and will be submitted for budget approval in the 2018/19 financial year.
